Nourishing our community with wholesome foods, affordably.

The Shared Table

As a family of six, it has been our practice to purchase our staples foods in bulk quantities, not only because it economically makes sense, but also because we live 20 minutes to the nearest grocery store; and running out of flour in the middle of making millet bread isn't fun.

The Shared Table is a not-for-profit service with its inception birthed when our neighbor asked, "Do you think I could purchase a smaller quantity from you?"

Inspiration for the name, The Shared Table, is taken from 2 Samuel 17:27-29 which illustrates the biblical principle of hospitality and communal nourishment. The Shared Table signifies a place where our community can stop in and purchase pantry staples that offer sustenance at cost, however the vision for our farm is not about mere commerce, but signaling that we are a part of a broader mission of connection and benevolence.

Currently, at the grass roots level, we offer all these staples from the basement of our home, but a storefront off the highway is coming soon...

FOOD AS MEDICINE.

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
-Thomas Edison, 1903

"The use of natural remedies requires an amount of care and effort that many are not willing to give. Nature's process of healing and upbuilding is gradual, and to the impatient it seems slow. The surrender of hurtful indulgences requires sacrifice. But in the end it will be found that nature, untrammeled, does her work wisely and well. Those who persevere in obedience to her laws will reap the reward in health of body and health of mind."
- Ellen G. White, Ministry of Healing
