Strawberry U-Pick

Strawberries,  strawberries!

We like adventure. And this year, we have taken on the exciting new quest of growing strawberries.
We conclude that most fruit picked in its height of perfection is in that moment our favourite fruit ever.

In northern Alberta, we don't have the luxury to experience that with some of our favourite fruit like mangoes or persimmons - but we can for strawberries!

We are growing the day-neutral variety, which means that when the June Bearing variety of strawberries end - our little patch will just be reaching maturity, with the season beginning somewhere in the middle of August and producing through to the beginning of October.

Once the u-pick season is underway, there is no guarantee that we will have strawberry picking every day, or all day long. Each row needs to be picked so we do not have berries spoil, and we may need the patch to have a rest after picking so more sweet berries are ripe the next time we want to pick. Once all the rows have been picked for that day, we will have to close the patch for at least one full day to allow for ripening.

Check back in later for more details on our operation hours. See you soon!

Food as Medicine

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
-Thomas Edison, 1903

"The use of natural remedies requires an amount of care and effort that many are not willing to give. Nature's process of healing and upbuilding is gradual, and to the impatient it seems slow. The surrender of hurtful indulgences requires sacrifice. But in the end it will be found that nature, untrammeled, does her work wisely and well. Those who persevere in obedience to her laws will reap the reward in health of body and health of mind."
- Ellen G. White, Ministry of Healing
